What You'll Learn
Making Short Films
The best way to learn to make films is by making films. It's not about sitting in a class, which is ironic as this is a course. But, we're not just going to talk at you, but encourage you to get up from your desk and go make something. Many somethings actually. We'll start simple with just using an available camera like your phone and having just one actor in a single environment with no dialogue. Then we'll move on to more and more advanced shorts and scenes.
Outlining, Planning, Screenwriting, Storyboarding and more
We'll show how to not only shoot films but plan for them. As we made several short films in the production of this course we'll show you all the behind the scenes of how it was made. It's always a wild ride with unexpected twists and turns, and we'll show all of it.
Edit like a Pro
Even if you've never done filmmaking we've crafted this to be accessible to everyone. The editing software is free (Davinci Resolve) and we'll show you how to use all of it and understand processes that are easy enough for beginners but also expandable for professionals. We shot a higher end scene for this course and will not only show you how we did it, but we'll also provide 45 minutes of the footage so that you can experience editing the scene for yourself.
Practical Exercises for Skill Development
Through practical assignments, such as shooting your own films, you'll apply what you've learned in a hands-on manner to cement your skills.
