This course is for painters, illustrators, concept artists, animators, 3d artists, sculptors… well, everyone. I will teach you how to use a camera as a tool for visual storytelling. Even if you do not have the budget to buy a camera, this course will be helpful. I will show you how to see from a Cinematographer’s perspective, how to frame and light compositions. At the end of this course you will be able to recognize lens types, shot types, how lighting is created in photos and movies. 9.5 hours of lecture (with permanent access and no time limits) Assignments you can complete at your own pace Chapter 01 - Geometric Composition We’ll talk about how to find and frame shots Chapter 02 - Lenses Everything you need to know about how lenses work and how to use them for visual storytelling Chapter 03 The Pentagon of Exposure We’ll demystify the triangle of exposure, ISO, aperture, shutter speed and more Chapter 04 - Light Light is more important than the camera itself and we’ll talk about how to find the light that will best tell your stories Chapter 05 - Case Studies I will demonstrate several examples of shooting still photos, from still life, portraits, landscapes, astrophotography, and more Chapter 06 - Videography We’ll start shooting video and talk about how this changes the process and advances our ability to tell more complex stories. Chapter 07 - Cinematography We’ll discuss making films and how the process works in detail. Several unique films were created specifically for this course. Chapter 08 - Final Thoughts We’ll again talk about gear and how to apply the principles learned in the course.
